Moving Forward

We’ve read lots of good literature this year:

The Pearl, by John Steinbeck

Harriet Tubman, by Anne Petry

The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros

The Diary of Anne Frank,

The Terrible Things,

Poetry, non-fiction, and more…

We have met upstanders, bystanders, winners, losers, victims, victors, and all kinds of people in between.

Watch this VIDEO.

Think about how the stories and characters we’ve read and learned about stay true to some of these pieces of advice.

  1. Wow, these quotes are all so inspiring and relevant to the works that we have read this year. To summarize, I believe all these quotes are meant to inspire us to be all that we can be. Also, we need to realize that its the journey and not the destination that makes up 90% of our lives. So we need to appreciate the struggle. I think the most relevant quote for me was the one that said “The only things that stand between a person and what they want in life are the will to try it and the faith to believe its possible” – Rich Devos. I have so many goals and dreams and I often psych myself out by thinking that it is too difficult. But in reality, whenever I just go for it (try) and believe that I can do it, I actually do accomplish my goals.

  2. I agree with Miss Dornan. Often, when faced with a challenge, my first reaction is, “I can’t do it.” When I re-think it, though, I am able to succeed, with hard work, and sometimes by asking for help!

I connected the play, The Diary of Anne Frank, to the quote that was about appreciating the little things in life, because sometimes they turn into the big things. A little thing like a diary became a huge artifact that allows generations that followed to see how horrific the early 1940s were.

  3. The quote that stood out to me the most was,”Change your thoughts and change your world.”

  4. The video was really inspirational. The quote “sometimes in change of wind we find our true direction” was one of my favorites

  13. This video is really inspirational and is very relevant to Anne Frank because they need to keep going and have strong hearts

    • Orlando, good job giving an explanation of why the video is inspiring and relevant. Next time, say even more, with perhaps an example of how they keep going or have strong hearts!

  14. “The best sermons are lived, not preached.” This quote is the truth because some of the best lives where preached but, they were suppost to have been lived.

  15. This video is like a summary of my life but in short term, it was deep and very inspirational. Probably something I would watch everyday to remind me that im special and unique.

  16. Anne always tries to make light out of all situation. So the perfect quote would be for her is “the one the changes your thoughts can be the one that changes your world.”
